examination, a yearly balance will be able to be made of
many sources of Revenue so as to see that all forms issued
have been duly accounted for.

Surveys have been made from time to time
of the stock of stamps in the Post and Stamp Offices, and
the main stock was surveyed in December, 1893, and every-
thing found correct. The same remarks apply to the
stock of Imperial Postal Notes in the hands of the Post
master General.

The Bank Deposit receipts in the hands of
the Registrar of the Supreme Court, were surveyed several
times, and a considerable test given to the Cash Accounts.
The Bankrupt Estates being administered by the Official
Receiver as Trustee were thoroughly examined, and the
question of the mode of keeping, rendering, and examining
these accounts is at present under consideration; (see your
letter No 14/129 of 8th December last and previous corres-
pondence).
9.
The securities given by Officers for the
due discharge of their duties were examined by a Board of
which I was a member and we called attention to several
cases in which fresh security was required and the necess-
ary steps are being taken.
10.
The Store books of the Public Works
Department were subjected to a test, and a survey was made
of 50 articles taken at random.
The result of this
survey was unsatisfactory, as reported to you in my letter
No 24/62 of 9th December, 1893.
I also reported the
matter to the Colonial Government but, up to now, have not
heard
